What is Place?
Place is an app for turning your photos, notes, trips, recommendations and ideas into personal visual pages you can keep or share. Instead of posting everything into a disappearing feed, you build a place of your own.
What is Daily?
Daily is a personalized news app that researches the topics you care about and turns them into a daily briefing and podcast made for you. Each person can receive a different edition.
Who is Place for?
People who already save things everywhere — Camera Roll, Maps, Notes, Pinterest, albums, WhatsApp, lists — and want that material to have shape, memory, and identity, without keeping a blog or becoming a content creator. It is not primarily a tool to grow an audience, get followers, or monetize.
Who is Daily for?
Curious people whose interests cross categories — for example AI, startups, Champions League, Mexican politics, and restaurants in Mexico City — who do not want to spend an hour every day hunting across X, newsletters, podcasts, and Google. The job is: tell me what I should know about the things I care about.
How is Place different from Instagram?
Instagram is organized around individual posts and distribution. Place is organized around your space and what accumulates in it. Instagram is better if you want audience, distribution, and a social graph. Place is for building a visual personal space you can keep or share, without focusing on followers.
How is Daily different from a newsletter?
A newsletter usually has one editor and thousands of readers get essentially the same edition. Daily is one publication for one person: it researches the topics you chose and builds a briefing and podcast for you. A named newsletter is still better when you specifically want that editor’s voice.
Do I need an app for Daily?
No. Daily works in the browser on any device. Sign up at daily.place.so. Place, the visual-pages app, is on iPhone.
Is Place a public blog or social network?
No. You can keep pages for yourself or share them. The public web profile viewer was retired; Place lives in the iOS app. It is not built to maximize reach or run a community.
Does Daily give unbiased or complete news?
No. Daily personalizes, selects, and synthesizes from sources around your topics. It does not promise objectivity, real-time coverage, or everything you need to know. Google News or Apple News are better for browsing many publishers; X is better for extremely immediate conversation; ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini are better when you have a specific question to research right now.
When should I use something else?
Use Notes or Notion for flexible documents and databases. Use Pinterest to discover other people’s inspiration. Use Camera Roll if you only want to keep photos. Use Google Maps to discover places and navigate. Use Substack to build a recurring editorial audience. Use Daily when you want a recurring briefing built automatically around your interests, without asking for it every morning.
